As a social media platform, Twitter is undoubtedly growing in popularity and looking forward to further growth and expansion over the coming months. Those that have already been using Twitter (at least in a business context) for a little while will no doubt already be aware that there is something of an art to it - it certainly isn't as simple as just tweeting what and when you fancy.
BUSINESS - Today I received a very short questionnaire from the local council, the main question of which asks what improvements I would like to see made (in the ideal world) to make me want to come to the town more often.
It is quite an interesting question, and the answer will of course not be the same for all demographics. The following is an edited version of my answer to this question:
SEO - Clients often ask us about Search Engine Optimisation (SEO), and of course we always discuss this with any clients who require website development. Understandably, most people tend not to get how SEO works before they talk with us, but understanding the basics of it will substantially affect (and hopefully improve!) the effectiveness of your online presence.
SOCIAL MEDIA - Do you know what your web shadow looks like? If you are in any kind of business, or even if you are just looking for work, you really ought to!
SOCIAL MEDIA - We've seen it before. Bebo, Myspace, Faceparty, Friends Reunited, LiveJournal... well they're all still going in one form or another, but it is now long since the time these sites formed the core of social media sites. Facebook currently remains the world's most popular site, but is it's bubble beginning to burst?
Exanza is backing the campaign by The Voice radio in North Devon to win back real local radio for the area. Throughout June they are broadcasting as Festival FM on 107.1FM from Barnstaple as part of the North Devon Festival. You can also listen to them live online.
FACEBOOK - Do you run a business that has become successful at marketing itself through Facebook... but when you started, you setup your business as a normal personal profile? This now no longer needs to be a disaster in the waiting!
ADVERTISING - How companies talk about themselves on Twitter feeds or Facebook profiles is to be policed like adverts. Following on from our news item last month entitled Don't Get Caught Out, the Advertising Standards Authority (ASA) now has powers to police the claims companies make on websites and social networks.
MOBILE - With Apple due to launch the iPad 2 in the UK later this month, more and more people are now using iPads, iPhones, Android and other mobile devices to access the internet. But don't iPads and other such products simply display your website as it would appear on any other device? ...well no not really.
ADVERTISING - From March 1st marketing communications on websites will be regulated by the Advertising Standards Authority.
